The Upright Approach
Upright's team fully project managed the job, sourcing specialist suppliers and managing the challenges the build faced mainly due to the work being within the basement and access limiting. During the building works a 6m deep well was unearthed, instead of filling this in the owners embraced the history and a walk on glass cover inlaid into the floor was added making the well a main feature within the basement.
25m² of internal usable living space has been added to the 4 bedroom semi-detached property. The now fully tanked basement has gone from being an untapped and unused space to a stunning kitchen perfect for entertaining and everyday use complete with wet underfloor heating and floating walnut stairs. Light floods into the basement through the 5.5m tall glass doors, providing access to the landscaped sunken garden and also a link to the ground floor of the property as they straddle both floors. Externally the sunken garden leads with steps up to the ground level where a firepit is a main feature within the garden.
